Projects
Some things I've built, some still in progress.
There are over 2.5 million deaf people in Uganda and fewer than 50 certified sign language interpreters in the entire country — most of them in Kampala. SignX is an AI-powered platform that lets anyone learn Ugandan Sign Language and communicate with deaf Ugandans, using a phone or a computer. Built with a team that includes deaf USL users, a certified interpreter, and an ML engineer. The kind of project where getting it wrong actually matters.
Undergraduate research project. A mobile app for sickle cell disease patients — predicting pain episodes before they happen using ML, with medication reminders and health tracking built in. The 90% accuracy figure looked good in the paper. Whether it holds up in the real world is a different question.
